Soft Skills
SOFT
SKILLS
Let’s
talk about soft skills which are highly essential for an individual to survive
at all the choc-a-bloc job interviews. Skills are basically the abilities of a
person to complete any given task. So skills are of various types. For instance,
a person who applies for a job or attends an interview has to acquire some
skills which puts him out of the crowd attending the same. Technical skills or
hard skills are the most basic requisites for an individual in his field of
occupation to satisfy its needs. Apart from hard skills soft skills are more
than required for a person to survive his job, profession, occupation or
whatever.
Soft
skills are those transferable skills or say professional skills which only few
select individuals acquire. But these soft skills are need of the hour for each
and every individual aspiring for a job at reputable organizations or big
corporate houses as to say. These skills are complete personal as they are less
related to your qualifications and profession and more to your personality,
your intuition, your character etc. It is also a way by which a company or an
organization filters the candidates who walked in for the interviews.
Communication, self-motivation, leadership, responsibility, team work, problem
solving, decisiveness, time management, flexibility are some of those soft
skills which are required to be able to prove yourself in a competitive job
environment.
Let’s
analyze the above-mentioned skills -
COMMUNICATION:
Communication is the first and most important requisite for an individual to mingle
and socialize with people around and to be able to speak up his/her mind.
SELF
MOTIVATION: Self-motivation is one of the skill
where one needs to motivate self at times dealing with high work pressure or
the other way where one has to compete and contribute.
RESPONSIBILITY:
An individual working with an organization needs to be highly responsible with
his both words and actions which affect or benefit self and organization as
well.
TEAM
WORK: When working with diverse people you
need to have the ability to work in groups or say involve in team works which
increases the output of the given task. Also team work enlightens and exposes
oneself to diverse minds and conditions which in turn contributes to your
growth.
PROBLEM
SOLVING: Problem solving is also one major factor
and a skill required for the job survival.
TIME
MANAGEMENT: An individual who manages his/her
time efficiently has more advantage than any other person who doesn’t. So
managing time effectively and efficiently is the most important factor and a
skill to be acquired.
DECISIVENESS:
Decisiveness is a skill to make or take decisions quickly and effectively.
FLEXIBILITY:
The one who is flexible is more needed for an organization. Here flexibility is
what makes a person to fit in any given situation or adapt to any circumstance
occurred.
Finally, to conclude all of this, I opine that one has to acquire soft skills to put
themselves above all in a work environment. I would also state an example of
doctor’s profession where a doctor has all the professional and technical
knowledge to write, prescribe, explain, perform or whatever but the one who has
emotional intelligence, social skill to attract and articulate patients is a
true doctor in my sense. Welcome them with smile, ask them with love, treat
them with care is what all matters as a soft skill.
By
now, you should’ve understood what soft skills are, in brief. Thank you.
